The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Financial Control Directorate (FC) - Financial Reporting and Accounting Department - Third Party Accounting and Administrative Expenses Division - Third Party Mandates Unit at its headquarters in Luxembourg:
(under ACP Traineeship Programme)
Duration: 6 months (with possible extension for a total of up to 12 months) (fixed start date: 1st September 2020)
Objective of the traineeship
Assist the Third Party Accounting Unit responsible for preparing the financial statements and other related internal and external financial reports for third party funds under EIB management (such as the Investment Facility Cotonou). You will participate in recurring accounting activities such as monthly reconciliations and monthly, semi-annual or annual financial reporting. You will be involved in the accounting analyses and implementation of new products or new accounting standards.
Your tasks will be:
Participate in the accounting and financial reporting activities of the Investment Facility Cotonou reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts, such as bank accounts or suspense accounts.
Maintain accounting controls through the documentation of new procedures and the update of existing ones.
Participate in the accounting analyses of new products and ensure the compliance with IFRS.
Academic qualifications and professional skills
Final year of studies or University degree in Finance or Accounting;
Very good knowledge of general accounting principles and good understanding of IFRS;
Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), proficiency in Excel.
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French.
