ICG Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at university of Portsmouth in UK, 2018

The University of Portsmouth is proud to announce two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation (ICG) aimed at promising early career researchers. To comply with UKVI legislation, non-EEA candidates are only eligible to apply for this post if it has been advertised for a total of 28 days.
The purpose of the fellowship is to undertake high quality independent postdoctoral research and innovation in gravitational wave science, astrophysics and/or cosmology to complement and extend the existing ICG research portfolio. To engage in teaching, scholarship, research, innovation and outreach as needed in line with the Department, Faculty and University objectives.

The University of Portsmouth is a public university in the city of Portsmouth, in the ceremonial county of Hampshire on the south coast of England; it is located mainly on Portsea Island with a population of 205,400, it is the United Kingdom’s only island city
Course Level: Fellowship is available to pursue Postdoctoral research programme.
Study Subject: The fellowship aimed at promising early career researchers in gravitational wave science, cosmology, and astrophysics.
Scholarship Award: Salary is in the range £34,520- £37,706per annum. Salary is paid into a bank or building society monthly in arrears.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
The university welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups in science. The University of Portsmouth and the ICG hold Athena SWAN bronze awards and the university is an Institute of Physics Project Juno Supporter; these projects show a commitment to introduce organizational and cultural practices that promote diversity and equality in science and create a better working environment for men and women.

Qualifications, Education & Training
A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. physics, astrophysics or mathematics)
Personal research awards (e.g., fellowships and prizes)
Other Requirements
High integrity and professional approach
Positive attitude towards essential administrative tasks
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Creative and self-motivated
Willing to travel in the UK and overseas
Enthusiastic about public engagement and knowledge exchange

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. physics, astrophysics or mathematics).

English Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

How to Apply: Applications (application form, CV, publication list and research statement for the fellowship) should be submitted via the online application system by the closing date. Applicants should also arrange for up to three reference letters to be sent by email, to arrive by the same date. We expect the fellowship to start 1st September 2018 or as close to that date as feasible.

Application Deadline: Fellowship application deadline is January 5, 2018.
